If you are paying for Practo Ray, or about to, you have probably wondered how much of it was built for a dental clinic and how much for every other kind of practice. This article lays out the four realistic choices for an Indian dental clinic: a paper register and a phone, a general clinic suite like Practo Ray, a dental-specific Indian product, and Dentomate, which is ours. Every price below was read from the vendor's own pricing page on 6 October 2026. Several are marked as offers, so check again before you pay.

The Options Side by Side

Sources: Practo Ray plans, MolarPlus pricing, Simpld pricing, and our own pricing page. The prices are not like for like on tax. MolarPlus quotes its prices and says 18 percent is added at checkout, which makes Plus ₹471 a month all-in. Simpld says "Taxes as applicable". Practo's plans page does not say either way, so ask.

What Practo Ray Charges

Practo's plans page lists two plans. CM Atom is ₹999 a month on a one-year plan, which comes to ₹11,988 for the year. It includes 3,000 free SMS, 5 GB of storage, basic reports and up to 50 doctors. Clinic Management is ₹1,499 a month on a one-year plan, or ₹999 a month if you commit to four years, against a struck-through list price of ₹1,999. It includes 8,000 free SMS, 20 GB, advanced reports and unlimited doctors.

Both plans list "Patient charting" and "Appointment confirmation, reminder and follow-up SMS". If you take card or UPI payments through Ray's own payment product, the page lists a charge of 2 percent per transaction on CM Atom and 1.8 percent on Clinic Management. The free trial is 7 days.

Two things are free on Practo's side and worth knowing. Practo says it does not charge for listing your profile on Practo.com or for the bookings that come through it. Practo Prime, the optional paid product, charges a one-time technology fee the first time a new patient connects with your clinic through it. Practo does not publish that fee's amount.

Is Practo Ray Built for Dentists?

Partly. It would be wrong to say Practo Ray has no dental features. Its dental charting tool is a real , with legends, freehand drawing, shapes and text, and sharing by email or printout.

The fair description is a general clinic product that also serves dentists. Practo's own FAQ says Ray "has features that suit the needs of all practices" and that it does not sell customised software for individual doctors. You can see the general design in the plan limits: the entry plan allows up to 50 doctors, and the higher plan allows unlimited doctors. A single-chair clinic with one dentist uses none of that headroom, but the price is set for the whole range of practices Practo serves.

The other difference is the channel. Practo's plans list reminders by SMS. If your patients already message the clinic on WhatsApp, ask whether the reminder will reach them where they actually reply.

Dental-Specific Indian Software Costs Less

Dentomate is not the only dental-first product in India at this price, and you should know about the others before deciding.

MolarPlus lists Plus at ₹399 a month plus GST, or ₹3,830 a year. Plus covers one clinic with up to 500 new patients and 500 appointments a month, and includes dental charting and treatment plans. Its WhatsApp reminders come from a verified MolarPlus . Sending from your own number starts on Pro, at ₹999 a month plus GST or ₹9,590 a year. Bulk data export is also a Pro feature.

Simpld lists Essentials at ₹8,100 a year with 5,000 free SMS a year and no WhatsApp bot, and Pro at ₹10,800 a year with 5,000 free WhatsApp messages and 1,000 SMS a year.

Both trials are 7 days, the same as Practo's. The useful point is that a dental-first product at or below Practo's entry price exists from more than one vendor. The shared sender number on entry plans is common across this market, not one company's quirk.

When a Paper Register Is Still Enough

A register and a phone cost nothing and never go down. If your appointment book is short enough that the front desk can call everyone due tomorrow, and you rarely need to find every patient who had a root canal two years ago, software may not earn its fee yet.

Paper falls short in two places. Reminders depend on someone remembering to make the calls. And recall depends on searching the register by hand: finding every patient who has not been back in six months is a morning's work on paper and a filter in software.

Five Questions to Ask Any Vendor

Whichever product you look at, these questions separate the price on the page from the price you pay.

  • What is the price with GST, and what is it at renewal? Practo's FAQ says a plan's renewal price will not change. Ask every vendor for the same promise in writing.
  • SMS or WhatsApp, and from whose number? A shared number costs less. Your own number costs more and usually needs a higher plan.
  • Which features are on the plan you can afford? Reminders, campaigns, GST invoicing and data export are where entry plans tend to stop.
  • Can you take your records with you? Ask how you export every patient, treatment and bill if you leave, and on which plan.
  • What are you paying for that you will not use? Doctor counts, branch counts and storage limits set for large practices do nothing for a solo clinic.

On GST invoicing specifically, most clinical dental treatment is exempt, so the invoice question matters mainly if you sell taxable goods. Our GST guide explains the split.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Practo Ray cost per month in India?

On 6 October 2026, Practo's plans page listed CM Atom at ₹999 a month on a one-year plan and Clinic Management at ₹1,499 a month on a one-year plan, or ₹999 a month on a four-year plan. The page does not say whether GST is included, and prices marked as offers can change.

Does Practo Ray have a dental chart?

Yes. Practo Ray includes a dental charting tool with legends, freehand drawing, shapes and text, and sharing by email or printout. Ray is a general clinic product that also serves dentists; Practo describes it as having features for all practices.

Is listing my clinic on Practo.com free?

Yes. Practo says it does not charge for listing a profile or for bookings made through it. Practo Prime, an optional paid product, charges a one-time fee the first time a new patient connects through it, and Practo does not publish the amount.

Where Dentomate Fits: Our Pitch

This is the part where we sell, so read it as that. Dentomate is built only for Indian dental clinics. Its treatment shortcuts are dental (scaling, RCT, single-sitting RCT), its lists group patients by visit history, spend and medical risk, and campaigns can target patients by treatment, from ortho and RCT to implants and crowns.

PlanWhat you getPrice
Free20 new patients a month; no calendar, reminders or campaigns₹0
StarterUnlimited patients, calendar with WhatsApp reminders, UPI payment link, 2 campaigns every 30 days₹399/mo
ProUp to 3 clinics, GST invoicing, unlimited campaigns₹799/mo

Annual billing works out to ₹3,990/yr for Starter and ₹7,990/yr for Pro. Full breakdown on the pricing page.

What we do not do, so you can weigh it fairly. Dentomate has no tooth chart; if you chart every patient on an odontogram, Practo Ray and MolarPlus both have one. WhatsApp messages go out from Dentomate's number, not your clinic's, because every clinic sends through our account, which is also why you need no Meta account or verification of your own. And there is no one-click export of all your records yet.
